Curtis Granderson usually has no trouble keeping an audience's attention.
Earlier this year, he became only the second big leaguer with at least 30 doubles, 20 triples, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a single season. On one memorable Sunday, Comerica Park rattled as he burned around the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
This week, though, he hopes to keep the crowd as quiet as possible.
Granderson, the Tigers' popular centerfielder, will speak to student athletes at Southern Methodist University in Dallas on Monday and Tuesday.
He will talk about some of the habits -- time management, stress management, nutrition, goal-setting, and a commitment to education -- that have helped make him a successful big leaguer. He will give the students advice about maintaining a positive image at a time when the Internet and cell phone cameras have blurred the lines of privacy.
