I heard that there was a picture and article in today's paper about a large gift to the Biology department. True? If so, it's very good news. SMU has a lot of momentum.

It is a nice gift, though the article has a mistake in the bottom when discussing some of the research there, Penicillin is a beta-lactam, so how can beta lactams inhibit penicillin.

My guess would be that was a typo, and the writer meant beta-lactamase. That's what John Buynak has been working on.

along with Christine Buchanan, who would be in the Bio dept not chem like Buynak.
