About one dozen law officers today visited the Branch Davidian compound site near Waco to mark 15 years since the beginning of a deadly siege.
Then they went to a service, attended by about 100 people, at a
law enforcement memorial site in Waco.
Four federal agents died and six Davidians were killed in the
February 28th, 1993, shootout that started the 51-day standoff.
Gunfire broke out when officers tried to arrest Davidian leader
David Koresh on charges he was stockpiling guns and
explosives.
About 80 people in the compound died in the April 19, 1993,
blaze that consumed the complex.
The government claims the Davidians committed suicide by setting the fire and shooting themselves.
Survivors say the blaze was started by tear gas rounds fired
into the compound by government tanks, and that agents shot them.
