Texas Tech

So I'm driving to work this morning, and I get stuck behind a DART bus. On the back, there's a big black panel with a red Texas Tech logo.

Can't figure out the motivation. Nothing on there about "get your (fill in the name of a specific program) at Tech ..." or "Tech has summer baseball camp in Dallas..." or even "apply to Tech for the fall semester at the following website address."

Nothing. Didn't say it's a good school, or nice weather, or that they have big hats. No idea what they were trying to accomplish, but ... thanks for helping to fund the local public transportation, I guess.

I don't know what's worse...getting stuck behind a DART bus or getting stuck behind a DART bus with a big Tech logo on the back.

Last week I got an envelope in the mail from TCU. Based on the outside of it, I'm guessing it was to publicize their summer programs. Of course, I lined through my name and address, wrote "Return to Sender-Mustangs Live Here!" and put it back in the mailbox the next day.

Hah, maybe I should do that with the stuff I get from Cox -- "RTS -- Engineer lives here!"

Well do you want to work for the engineering firm or do you want to run the engineering firm?

Hah, I want my own firm. Someday I'll feel comfortable running it without an MBA.

That has been said by many former business owners.

And plenty of successful firm owners, too.

I've thought about going back for an MBA, but I sure don't want to pay SMU MBA tuition. Are any of the other schools in the area even worth it, or would it be a complete waste to consider them?

I think if you look deep in your heart, and stare hard at the Diamond M, you know the answer, freshman...
