Is it me, or does it look like they are wearing purple in the picture? If they are wearing purple, they should give their trophy back.

1. Of all available colors, why purple? Was OU's pom squad wearing burnt orange?

2. I appreciate the fact that they're #1 and all, but why not pony ears instead of a #1?

3. Why is it every time I see "Pom squad" my eyes deceive me into thinking it says pron squad?

4. Most importantly: Well done ladies

They're definitely wearing purple, which is a lot more bothersome than the No. 1/Pony Ears debate. Hope they had fun on the beach, and saved enough money to get to every game next year.

I wonder if they performed to Fiddler on the Roof? Or being on the beach, perhaps Fiddler Crab on the Roof?

Seriously! It irks the hell out of me about the purple outfits! And I know they'll say "They looked good" or "what does it matter?"

If they'd worn ORANGE or GREEN or something that wasn't our rivals colors I would be fine. But come on...

It just proves that there are lots of administration at this university that just don't care. It's a stepping stone...

But, anyway, good job, ladies! Next year win in ANYTHING but purple or silver (ok maybe silver...)

Now I'm drinking the haterade...

Is this like a "1" in the UIL marching band contest in high school - where every school is #1 or is this a case where there is only one #1?

Either way, congratulations. [/quote]

Agreed, the purple is infinitely bothersome.

Wearing purple gets them no congrats from me. Whats wrong with our colors - there are several to choose from. And yes - these competitions are usually stacked so that many teams leave with "national championship's" - there are about a dozen categories and they spread it around so the dance instructors can all say they won to drum up new business - its a racket.

If you wear red/blue next year, dont look so fake, show up at the games and then win something then the congrats will be in order.

My stepdaughter just explained to me that these are 'competition uniforms' and (maybe) the style that they chose was not available in red or blue. However, she does agree that it doesn't look good for the SMU pom squad to wear colors not associated with the school. Lori Lewis (SMU pom squad director) is also the director/sponsor of the Hillcrest High School Panaders (drill team) where my stepdaughters attend.

What a shame. THEN PICK A DIFFERENT STYLE.

We're getting all wound up about the color of their uniform? Who gives a flip? Those who were there and know about know they came from SMU.

Nice work, ladies.

Nice work, indeed.
Yay.
Go team.

With that said, I give a flip. The whole reason they exist is to cheer for SMU athletes. University dollars were spent to send them to this competition. If there were no sports at SMU, this group wouldn't exist, and they should represent SMU at all times ... including adding "SMU" prominently on all uniforms. I don't want to see them in purple any more than I'd want to see the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders in burgundy and gold or the Mavs dancers wearing the black/pewter/green/whatever colors of the San Antonio Spurs. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a life-threatening situation, but it's still absolutely wrong.
