I think the IOC needs to cut the members of the Chinese women's team in half and count their rings.

I think the IOC should conduct a puberty check first.

Heh, knowing nothing about gymnastics and maturity levels, does a 13 year old girl hold an inherent phycial advantage over an 18 year old girl, or is the rule of being at least 16 at some point in the calendar year of the Olympics in place to protect the girls, such as not putting the pressure and rigors of training on someone so young?

Common sense would tell me that an older girl (16-20) would be a better gymnast because they have more experience, training, and maturity to handle pressure and if they get whupped by a 12 year old, more power to em....let them compete and just do away with the rule. I would think in most cases you wouldn't want someone so young on the team anyway for the reasons i listed above.

i would agree with you except for what my gf told me...who is an ex gymnast

apparently the ideal size and weight for gymnastic in girls is at 13-14 years old, they have a distinct advantage over those who are younger and older...i guess they are as small as can be while still being strong enough to compete at a high level.

Thats cool news. She definately looks like a Theta. I heard a pretty funny conversation on KNBR(my local sports radio station) and they were talking about how pixie-like the Chinese team is and how the U.S. has the most "bootylicious" team in the Olympics. Funny stuff
