Yes AA "WAS " charging service personel the extra baggage fee. They have since stopprd. Also the fee was being reimbursed to thye individuals by the Defense Dept. Most milartary fly AA as they get special rates because of a contract with the govenrment. All the other airlines were also charging the extra baggage fee.

Good for them. The article I linked to was from yesterday. If they could only push back from the gate that quickly.

As for the fee being reimbursed by the DoD, I'm sure there's not red tape there at all. AA did the right thing, assuming you are correct, by dropping that ridiculous fee.

so in reality no service members were paying for baggage in the end anyway. the media sucks, way to omit key contextual facts...again

Returned from Peru the end of July on LAN and AA. I had two bags-both overweight and paid nothing extra. Guess they succumbed to customer pressure.

Depends on when you bought the ticket. If it was before June 15th, I think, you do not have to pay fee. We went to Costa Rica in July but bought our tickets back in March, did not have to pay extra bag charge. If you fly Southwest you do not have to put up with the nickel and dime BS, if you can stand to fly Southwest.

PONY UP!
