No Love for me

Love Field is shutting down at noon tomorrow. My flight was to arrive at 12:35 and they are fully booked prior to noon. I am having to wait until Sunday to get out and just hope that Little Rock will be open on Sunday. All the worry I had about Austin, and Dallas and Little Rock turn out to be the problem. Oh well, at least I get to watch the Tech/SMU game in the comfort of my own home.

No time for love, Dr. Jones. Or, in this case, Mr. Rydel.

Get this for frustration. I call the car rental people to tell them I can not pick up my car until Sunday. They tell me they have no cars available for Sunday. I tell them I already have a car for Saturday but just can not get it until Sunday. I tell them I will pay beginning on Saturday from the time I was scheduled to get it but I just will not get into the car until Sunday. They again told me no cars were available for Sunday pick up. I asked if I was going to have to bring the Staurday car back on Sunday and they said no but that there was not a car available for Sunday pick up. I finally called the girl an idiot and asked for her supervisor. Amazingly they said they could have my car available for Sunday pick up and even not charge me for Saturday.

Now, after calling the girl and idiot, I wonder if I will have a car in Austin.

I don't have a car in Austin (anymore). Worked out okay for me, and I still haven't called a girl an idiot. I think I have a goal for tonight.

It reminded me of Seinfeld when they did not have a car for him after he had made a reservation.

"But I had a reservation for a car."

"I know what a reservation is Mr. Seinfeld."

"I don't think you do."

When I pick it up, I think I will say what he said when he finally got a car. Something to the effect of... "Give me the insurance because I am going to take this car and smash it into evrything I can find."

Good luck on Sunday. Southwest told me they were closed until Monday. In addition the hotel in beautiful Lubbock is charging me for tonight even though I canceled last night. So with that and the flight which Southwest will not refund, I just spent a bit of money to watch the game at home. :-( Thank you, Ike.

If they are closed until Monday then I am done trying to take my trip. Have not heard that yet. Web site just says through 5:00pm tonight. Guess I will find out soon.

While Southwest will not refund your money, they will let you use the travel funds for up to one year towards another flight. I do this quite often with them as my business travel plans can change with little notice.

Regarding the hotel in Lubbock-it might be worth a call to your credit card company to dispute the charge since you did cancel within 24 hours and it was due to an act of God preventing you from being there.

Mrydel, I do not know if it is true--just what they told me yesterday when they graciously offered to rebook me to Lubbock on Monday.

PonyFanSweetie, thanks for that. I rarely fly Southwest because I mostly go out of state for business but I'm sure I will use it at some point. And I'm not finished with the hotel yet, I just don't want to argue with anyone today.

I might be forced to call someone an idiot. ;-)

Call them back Ponylove. Their website states that if your flight is cancelled you can get a refund of unused ticket. That is not their normal policy but in this instance it is what they are saying.

Also, I called them and they said there were no decisions made yet on reopening. They still have my 9:00am flight tomorrow as scheduled but it could change.
