Heard an unconfirmed report that Bailey's 1st & 10 will be re-opening in Mid-March, but under new ownership. Heard that the new owners have SMU ties.
Hopefully they will decide not to change too much and I really hope they bring back the same cook.
It will be nice to have 1st & 10 back again.

I heard last weekend that it's been purchased and the new owners were planning on making it more upscale which is stupid. If you're going to make it more upscale, it won't be 1st and 10 anymore. why pay for the name if you're going to change the concept. hopefully it remains a dive and nothing changes

If upscale means not looking like the herb tarlek of sports bars, then i'm ok with it.

I'm just fine with it being a dive.... but at least clean the place. The whole place, especially the yellow back room, reminds me what the inside of the Cherry Pit in Duncanville must be like.

I know several of the new owners (they're all pony die hards) and have confirmed nothing is going to change except for the TV's and a better sports package. It'll be the same skinny burger and practically the same menu. I heard the old cook is coming back and from what I gathered, they are only improving upon the past flaws. Should be same watering hole we've known and trusted locally for the past 5 years. Not sure when they're opening but they told me they were pushing for march madness, but that might be a stretch. I know my friends and I looking forward to the old stomping ground to watch games.

Word among folks at the Morgan Campaign "call session" earlier tonight is that there's some difficulty obtaining a liquor license by the new owners. Hopefully that will soon be resolved.
One woman at the "call session" tonight PLEADED for the new owners to clean the bathrooms.

I'm familiar with the situation, and there's no 'difficulty' in getting a liquor license from TABC, it's just a matter of fact that when applying for a license, you're dealing with multiple governmental entities at the local and state level. anyone who has dealt w/ any level of government will tell you, it takes time. and there's not much that anyone can do about it.
So, it's not a matter of if, just when, it will reopen. I've been told that on average it takes 6 weeks to get a new license from TABC.

This is the note from D Magazine's website:
Bailey’s 1st & 10 to Reopen as Lakewood’s 1st & 10

I just got a note from a friend who says he and a few other SMU grads are reopening Bailey’s 1st & 10 at Mockingbird and Abrams. Seems the place closed down last November and the guys have signed a new lease, hired the old cook back, installed a few flat screens, and applied for a TABC license. Obviously they won’t open until they get this license, so opening date is still to come. But he assures me the place will be basically the same, just updated. And it will now be called Lakewood’s 1st & 10. When I hear the opening date I’ll pass it along.

1st & 10, formerly Bailey's, gets TABC
We reported a couple weeks ago that some neighbors are working together to re-open the former Bailey's 1st and 10 in Hillside Village. At the time their only real obstacle was obtaining a liquor license from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, according to one of the owners, Sean Hill Schulgen. Today I received word that they got the necessary licensing and are moving forward  ever so slightly behind the anticipated schedule  but Schulgen says things should move pretty fast now. We'll keep you posted.
