Mentioned SMU hiring American University coach Jeff Jones because of prior relationship to Copeland.

Hey guys,
I just transferred to SMU Law from George Washington, and Im primed for some football. In spite of my love of the game, I have somehow managed to always end up at schools with NO football program. In 7 years of higher education (and three schools) this will be my first season of college football.
So. Lets figure out this team and this season. From what Ive gathered so far, we have a lot of potential with a Sophomore RB who may be on the verge of a breakout, and a RS Freshman at the helm who is the best prospect weve had in years (how would he compare to Josh McCown when he came out of HS?). We have two returning Sr.s at WR, so the skill positions seem to be intact (though with the obvious questions with a RSF at QB).
Hows the O-line looking?
On Defense, I dont know where to begin. We have Joe Sturdivant heading up the secondary, and Justin Rodgers harassing opposing QBs, but beyond that where do you think were going to end up? The stats imply that we were decent against the run last year, is there hope that we can continue with that?
For Special teams it looks like the Return game will be fun to watch with Henderson again this year How about kick coverage? And will we make a decent percent of our field goals this year?
From everything Ive seen so far, it looks like this Mustang team is on the verge. It really looks like we should be able manage a winning season this year, and be in position for C-USA championship runs in 07 and 08.
Where does all this Pollyanna optimism come from? Im a longtime Charger and NAVY fan, and hope springs eternal! lol.

I called somebody a sunshiner in my first post. I am appalled at my behavior in my youth sometimes.

What a great day this was for all Ponyfans and Boards across the nation.
"Posted: Mon Oct 28, 2002 5:25 pm Post subject: Play Calling?
Does anyone have any info on the O.C. back ground? I don't get it. He had great play calls against La Tech, mixed it up very well. But then this weekend he did not open it up at all until the last part of the game. Four passes in the first quarter (3/4 completed) I was sitting with someone who played for Rice and he kept saying how glad he was we were not throwing it because there DB's would not be able to keep up. And we ran that draw up the middle all day and it never worked. Does Bennett not say something to him b/c he is a defensive coach at heart?"
Genius am I.

My first post some 6+ years ago was something about our need to stop stupid penalties, reduce our turnovers and stop blowing pass coverages. IF we did just those three things, we would catapult from abysmal to merely mediocre.

Hmmm, some things don't seem to change

Which one do you want? Big10PonyFan or George S. Patton?

Better stick with Patton, Big10PonyFan was banned for being as @sshole as I recall. Although he did inspire me to get an avatar.

Your avatar reminds me of nurse sharks. They are like the kittens of the sea. You can get them to roll over on the back so you can scratch their belly.

I don't remember the first Patton one. But Big10 talked about that it was good thing to let Jimmy Tubbs go. I think you and him jousted immediately over that.
Big10's avatar was really cool.

Exactly. That is the theme of the new kinder, gentler jtstang. And no, you may not rub my belly or any other part of me.
