Texas state Senate bans Vista from use in government agencies

The Texas state Senate yesterday gave preliminary approval to a state budget that includes a provision forbidding government agencies from upgrading to Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista without written consent of the legislature.

I guess we know how the Texas State Senate would have answered...

Vista is crap. It sucks so much that I'm wiping it from my system and loading it with XP. I've had nothing but trouble with it.

You should combine your interests and start a site called pornyfans.

Yes that was an unfortunate miscalculation on both our parts. However, I must say your post count has bounced back nicely.

I'm getting a tad worried about the Texas Legislature. The House just Oked Roadblock searches w/o probable cause. Most such legislation is eventually ruled unconstitutional.

What about the forced blood tests here in Austin. They are talking about having the police get trained to take the blood instead of medical professionals

Those sorts of searches are already going on. Search Tenaha, TX in Google news.

Oh I know legislatures across the country have tried to do it-but generally they are struck down for overbreath eventually after contested-which takes awhile. But as I remember this legislation only allowed municipalities over some large number maybe a Million plus the Mayor and Police Deppartment would have to agree and they had to strictly focus their search for drunk drivers only(no general sweep of registration, licenses etc) and could only last 3 minutes.

As they should be. Those TABC stings in bars a few years back were a tiny step above Gestapo tactics...glad they never made it to the Boulevard

You know what else is illegal besides gestapo raids? Underage drinking.

I think we should just use the honor system. "If she says she's 21, then she's 21" (or 18 as the situation dictates)...What could possibly go wrong?
