Short Story Help: Dallas...

... in the late '70s early '80s.

I'm doing a little thing about the time I was born and was a wee little tyke of a lad.

Trying to paint a picture of Dallas back then.. as a whole, any advice would be good. Specifically, though, I am wondering what the hotspots were... what the sleazy spots were.

As in was Trader Vic's an it spot still? What were those places? It's hard to find a characterization of the specific life, or in this case nightlife, of different cities and era's online.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As in how do I complete this portion of a line... "From swanky Trader Vic’s to sleazy _______________ ..."

And again, was Trader Vic's still all that at that time? I know it originally opened in '67.

I'm glad somebody spent Mother's day with your mom. Me.

....

Other than that little flourish, I'd love whatever thoughts you all might have to give.

Yeah, but... I'm wanting something specific.... originally I was thinking the lakewood landing, but that's a cool dive (now) because it's been a dive forever. Was it a cool dive then?

Apparently, there is a wall on Forest Lane between Midway and Inwood Road that WT White (or Thomas Jefferson) high school students painted with psychadelic-like (whatever that is?) symbols around 1976 - that stretch of road is apparently where most of the students of that high school liked to go "cruising" around that time.

Not that that helps, but I figured I'd share that with you.

That wouldn't have helped. Even if you would have done your best, you would have stumbled in and your journal entry would have read --

"We went to that place with the thing, and it was awesome. And there was this chick, she looked liked the girl in my calcuseless class or something class, maybe she was the same chick, but whatever I think she was hot. I told her I was a PK and it was so on. I don't know how I got home. Yeah. it was cool. I think."
