Hopefully, it's just a fraternity prank but the Mustangs in front of Moody are missing. Seriously, I remember someone on PF posting that the sculpture's permanent home would be elsewhere. Anybody remember where? Workers are making excellent progress on the brick promenade/walkway/trail from Binkley to Doak Walker. The sidewalks around Moody have been busted up and are being replaced and new lighting is being installed. I'm guessing there will be a replacement for the chainlink fence that separates the walkway from the soccer stadium. This will be a very nice area for evening activities. Some nice trees should make it boulevard-like in 20-30 years.

The school moved the sculpture due to construction. It is currently in storage and its final location will be near its previous location

When it was placed in front of Moody, President Turner said it was going to be moved at a future date.
My understanding is that it will be out in what is now the street in front of Moody, between Moody and Westcott Field.

So what are the odds that a groundskeeper hits it with a truck in the next few months. Which reminds me of a Sonny Jurgensen legend here in DC. In Alexandria Virginia there is a statue in the middle of the street of a Confederate soldier facing south. Jurgensen was driving up the street back in the day when drunk driving was winked at, and crashed into the statue spinning him northward in the process. Over the years the poor fellow has been hit by delivery trucks and other things. State law requires that he stay in that exact location since the old Federal Courthouse was on the corner.

The mustangs were moved because the Dedman Pedestrian Mall is being built.
They will eventually be placed at the north end of the DPM and the mustangs will face Dallas Hall.

The reference to Dedman Pedestrian Mall makes me cringe. Hopefully, that is not the name of this new development. Not a very endearing name. Sounds very "pedestrian".

I agreee. The word Dedman is overused on campus. We should just call ourselves Dedman U and get it over with.

Anyone who gives as much money to SMU as the Dedman family has will get a lot of things named after them. If naming things after their family keeps that money flowing, you can bet this won't be the last thing named "Dedman."

Dedman is fine. Nobody could argue their loyalty/commitment to SMU. It's the "Pedestrian Mall" part that is bothersome.

I suppose they could call it the Dedman Walking Mall.

Again, just call it Dedman U already.
I went to the SMU School of Law by the way.
