$47,606tuition and fees-enrollment drops. I've read TCU, Baylor and Rice had enrollment go up. Is SMU pricing itself out of the market?

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: $47,606good lord...maybe if this school didn't try to take away your basic freedoms of association more kids would come here

Re: $47,606
Define "SMU event"

HAHA...i challenge you to try "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: $47,606
Something to the effect of having three or more people who belong to the same student organization in the same place at once. Not limited to, but including, three people studying for a class in Fondren Library.
Re: $47,606i wish it was as many 3, i tcould be 2, it could be 1..they left that part open ended...of course they say "we would never cite you for being in the library, or being at a person's birthday, or at church"...but given the administrations recent history i don't trust them as far as i can throw em and if the right situation arose, they would.

Re: $47,606BTW,
does that total # take into account cost of living off campus which accounts for about 2/3's or more of the student body...or what it costs to live in a fraternity house? i would guess it's higher. "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: $47,606
PONY UP!
Re: $47,606
Costs me slightly less to live off campus. I don't have to buy a meal plan in excess of $2000 per semester either.

good point...most expensive terrible food i have ever eaten "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: $47,606SMU like most universities are the big rip-off of the last & most certainly this century. How parents are put in the position to mortage not only their future but their retirement for their children's own success? Just unbelievable!!! Just another reason why so many kids are going to JCs & less expensive universites their first two years & then, if need be, transferring their junior year. Hey, you can be just as successful in life going to a lesser-known school as a big one in most cases. Why spend $47,606 for a bunch of junk courses your first two years which will help you nada in preparation of your success. What a joke & a rip-off!!! These universities could care less about these parents - all they want is their hard earned dollars to, in most cases, brainwash their kids with BS. In some cases, perhaps it can make a difference but parents need to do their research. I'm sure the quality of grad schools can make a big difference but that, I'm sure, is another topic.
Here's one example. CSUN, Cal State Northridge, has an accounting dept. which ranks very high, in fact, equal to or better than UCLA's. Why spend the bucks???!!! UCLA is big bucks & difficult to get into while CSUN is quite the contrary & only about $3K annually. What a no brainer! Another fact in fueling these costs is our wonderful little socialists in DC. It's funny how everytime the government gets involved in something in the private sector, the costs just go soaring into the stratosphere???!!! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: $47,606Wow that is an incredible figure. Nearly 50K a year for a college education is insane. In today's economic climate I'm surprised we didn't see a more dramatic shift downward in enrollment. However, I think the value of an SMU education isn't something you can put a price tag on. I know it has enabled me to go into places I never thought possible.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: $47,606before w go blaming Obama it should be pointed out that tuition went up significantly 2 years ago an housing was increased 30%....that's not a joke, a letter was sent out to all students outlining what they were doing...maybe they go wise and didn't tell anyone this year when they increased tuition

Re: $47,606
They sent a letter out. It was "the smallest increase in tuition in years," which meant that it was only about an 8% increase or something laughably high like that. Scholarships are a good thing. The great thing about SMU is that scholarships are also pretty easy to come by, and if you don't get one, financial aid tends to be more generous here than at other schools.
