I'm picking St. Louis. They have great pitching for a series. Philly has no closer unless Lidge figures out why he stinks this year.

How cool would that be? The great Vin Scully does the play by play for one more World Series. I'm so fortunate that I met him.

Of course, if the Twins get through tomorrow against Detroit, I'm hoping for -- longshot alert -- a Twins-Dodgers World Series, a replay of the great 1965 World Series that the Dodgers won in 7.

Nothing like playoff baseball.

Go Cardinals and the National League and, please, not a LA Freeway Series. Only one thing would be worse, the Yankees in the final Series.

Great article in today's Wall Street Journal about Vin Scully. I grew up in L.A. in the 70s to mid 80s (left for SMU in '86) and there was nothing like listening to Vin call a game on the radio. In fact, you would go to a Dodger game and so many people in the stands were listening on their transistor radios that you could hear the play-by-play throughout the stands.

Thanks for the tip. When I was back for my Dad in August, I listened to a couple of Dodger games. At 82, he sounded as good as ever. Took me back to my youth growing up listening to him before I came to SMU in 1987.

The Cardinals looked bad. Bases loaded twice in the first four innings and they get one run. You aren't going to win many games doing that. Uncharacteristic and poor outing by a Cy Young front-runner. Poor situational hitting, major defensive lapse by DeRosa at third...all around not sharp, well disciplined baseball. Bullpen didn't really wow at all either...McClellan has been too hit or miss over the last month. At least when Ankiel strikes out it's usually swinging, this time he just let strike three sail right down the middle.

Two more and we move on!

Now if the Angels don't do their October swoon the Freeway Series is still possible.

My problem is I am a Yankee Fan and if the Angels get by the Red Sox my Yankees are toast.

Yankees can never beat the playoff Angels!
