I know all you don't know this. But where I'm from and where my kids grew up we never locked our front door and I mean we never locked it, my kids were notorious for losing keys so I gave up on giving them one and just left the door unlock. Nobody even bother us, I guessing that was the LORD. Now I've moved and I do lock my doors now, no kids around. Since my son has been out North shall I say. He thought he was moving on up Like George in Weezy gated community in all. His first apartment further out from the school off of 635 nothing occurred. But he wanted to move closer to the campus right off of 75. His rent payments like house payments. The very first week of living out there his entire SUV was stolen out of a gated garage. I had a hard time moving him in it was so air tight closed. He moved in on Sunday and by Friday his truck was stolen. Now I called the these same Apartments and asked them about all the security and safe environment they told me about. Oh Well strike 1. On the SMU campus both of my cars have been broken into. I have no decked out cars and trucks like my sons was, my Dodge Ram 1500 is SLT my Jetta is loaded with manufactered stuff so when they broke in my cars there was nothing to take. But each time its cost me money. His friends have come out with there cars stolen. It really makes me mad, I work hard for everything that I try giving my kids, I guess young men. I do not like thieves and would like to stake out them parking lots and put one right up the you know what. Just Pissed off that I keep having to replace door handles and key remotes. And to have my son call each time after getting out of late class or tutoring, frustrated saying Mama I can't take this and making police reports for nothing at all to happen. Just venting here.

In the 13 years I had my truck (all of them in Dallas), it was broken into 7 times. Although, none of them occurred on SMU's campus.

If this is occurring on the SMU campus, try calling the University Park police. More professional organization than the on-campus police unit.

Never got broken into on campus, but got broken into twice in one year off campus.... in the ghetto Cambridge apartments next to GG's club on NW Hwy. BAAAAD choice of residence even with how cheap it is.

Also had my house robbed when I was renting it with some other guys in school over near 635 and Montford.

Move here. Its such a bloody beating to get in and out of that you should be safe from all criminal activities. Except, maybe prostitutes.

It's uptown...of course there are both. But the male prostitutes are sometimes disguised as bus boys, waiter or bartenders.

My car was broken into in undergrad in the moody parking garage. My youngest brother is a student at SMU currently and his vehicle was STOLEN from campus TWICE this past semester. Both times parked on SMU Blvd right near the intamural fields. SMU police are worthless.

2 cars stolen while I was in school...and one from a nearby apartment complex. Don't expect help from the Dallas, UP, or SMU police...the most you may get is a phone investigation. Find an apartment complex or home for rent with a personal garage.

My car never got broken into in school, but then again the Plymouth Horizon was the least stolen car of 1987, so maybe that had something to do with it.
