Parking Lot Nazis

I decided I would make the 70 mile round trip tonight to watch the women’s basketball team. Drove up 5 flights of decks parked on the top floor a full three floors away from the nearest car and backed in. Came out to find a $30.00 parking ticket for double parking 1.5 foot over the white line in an empty garage. Great reward for a loyal fan.

Double parking = 1.5 foot? I think that's more like 1/16th parking and yes chicken [deleted].

not to beat a dead horse, but if i can't get my truck in the adjacent space b/c you're half a foot over the line, then you're double parked. actually, i'd rather you just plop your car in the middle than to be a foot over the line. own the fact that you're taking two spaces, rather than just show that you're a bad driver and can't see the lines.

sorry, it's just a peeve of mine.

Do the same rules apply on the top deck of an empty garage at 8:00 pm?

Bottom line is it will be a cold day in hell before they ever see that $30.00 or $1000.00 for BB tickets next year.

I never park on campus except for basketball games ;)

They'll give you a ticket if your car TOUCHES the line, as I found out one time when I had to park with my tire touching the line due to a Hummer parked in the space next to me who was also a bit over in my space. Did the Hummer get a ticket? No, but I did.

If you want to fight the citation, there's a form to fill out online. http://smu.edu/parknpony/Parking/Citation%20Appeals.asp

Evidently. And it is "Nazis" - plural, not possessive.

i'm amazed that the entire Binkley lot doesnt get tickets at every men's game. I believe that parking lot is lined for an all-motorcycle campus.

Why can't I get that!

Playing scrabble with me is like playing darts with a blind man.
Thank God I have other skills.

I pulled in the Binkley lot for the Memphis game
And felt like Dutch when I saw five cars taking up two whole spaces.
So I was forced to drive up to the top of the garage and walk down five flights.
After the game I walked back past a couple of the cars with no ticket.

I know the rules now and won’t break them. But their not going to get the $30.00

Based upon the facts, you did break the rules. That's indisputable. You were not wrongly ticketed.

From a common sense standpoint, if there were still a ton of spaces available and you were not denying parking in a crowded lot, then I don't think you SHOULD have been ticketed.

I feel your pain, but you really can't argue that you were right.
