SMU Press folds

...cry me a freakin' river. Some of the quotes are quite humorous. DMN 7B.
I agree. What tiny fraction of a reduction in every department's budget would it take to keep the Press operating. There is always a way when there is a will to do something and I too think keeping the Press operating is important to the University.skyscraper wrote:http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/050610dnmetsmupress.4108acb.html
Link for those who haven't seen it.
Those who were quoted in the story are taking the wrong approach. The Press and SMU football/athletics have nothing to do with each other, and it's silly to blame them. It doesn't have to be an either/or thing.
I think most would agree it's a good thing to have the Press remain open. But needlessly attacking athletics will make a fair amount of people roll their eyes or tune out any arguments the Press people have.
