Found this by accident doing work related research:

"SMU undergrad costs to rise 8 percent for 1990-91 The Southern Methodist University board of trustees has approved a rate increase for tuition, fees, room and board for the 1990-91 school year. The combined increase for a full-time undergraduate student will be about 8 percent, university officials said. Tuition and fees will be $5,408 per semester, an increase of 9 percent for students taking less that 12 hours and 9.5 percent for students taking 12 or more hours. Students living on campus..."

I wish it were that cheap when I was there.

Thanks Pye. Couldn't stand that non-elites could afford SMU and get a practical degree like engineering or business to improve their standing could you? Sorry you couldn't completely realize your goal of a liberal arts college full of pampered kids destined to live off their family money for their whole lives.

SMU basically went "stealth" during the post DP days and stopped publicly releasing the most basic information of student profiles-despite the fact they had released the exact same information for decades. The numbers must have been catastrophic which probably explains how so many of you slid through with your pledge class

Found my receipt from Spring semester of 1976, total including athletic fee ($25.00 got you into everything) was $1,960.00.

Frat dues room and board included for that semester was $275. But then again, most or all of the parties were held in the house.
