What is going on at SMU right now is unbelievable. Just unbelievable.

I was a student from 02-06 and it barely resembles the campus I attended.

Imagine how the classes from the sixties feel?

Ownby Field was dominated the SE part of the campus, there was no Blanton Quad, Letterman Hall framed the baseball field, Business school was one building (not quad), no Westcott Field, the Student Center was at Umphrey Lee, Meadows School of Arts was brand new and the Perkins Natatorium was on Bishop. Oops. Perkins Natatorium, originally the Gym from the 1940s, is still there. My mistake. :P

Does that indicate proposed construction at the site of the Nataorium? I have not heard anything about that to date.

Mrydel, with the exception of a small part of the existing facade, the new Aquatic Center would be a total replacement of this existing Perkins Natatorium. The key features include a 50 meter by 25 yard pool with Georgian architecture. The new building would also tie in the existing outdoor, A. R. Barr pool to the east.

So this proposed construction is based on the renderings I saw a few years ago and nothing has changed? We are still just waiting for a lead donor to step up?

Caren Prothro, Joe Perkins' granddaughter, is the current head of the SMU Board of Trustees (I believe)

Maybe the new swimming hole could incorporate a Bible study room (to get the Perkins group on board).
