Meadows Museum Exhibit Opening: “Echoes of the Past: The Buddhist Cave Temples of Xiangtangshanâ€
What:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Echoes of the Past is a major new exhibition that addresses the art and
architecture of the sixth-century Chinese cave temples of Xiangtangshan. Carved

the work of an international research team based at the University of Chicago’s

document and digitally reconstruct the original appearance of the cave temples.

bringing together many of the most important Xiangtangshan sculptures held in
American and European museums, along with a set of innovative digital projects
that will connect these artworks to their original contexts.
