A portion of this university's undergraduate students (40% est.) are persona non grata. They don't belong "Around the Hilltop" ergo, in the future they should be referred to as the ancient (social) culture that is to be nameless. I cannot elaborate, so don't ask. AVTI'O

Does seem odd that it is not something that can be discussed. Any other school organizations that have similar restrictions against discussion?

I would be interested in hearing from the admins why Greek life cannot be discussed. Their site and they can do what they want and all that, just seems odd.

Nobody is acting as if greek organizations don't exist. However, in the past, numerous threads about various organizations have been started, and more often than not, they have spiraled in to verbal wars about why one organization is better or worse than another, and then usually turn to nothing more than insults and name calling. That's exactly what happened today, and much of what was said was extremely personal in nature, and as you all know, we try very hard to eliminate personal attacks, too.

Allegations have been made in recent days that are very serious and sensitive. We're not asking for any new topics to be left off the board. Greek life, like religion, politics, etc., always has been one of those topics that has the potential to spark emotional responses that have nothing to do with SMU athletics, and SMU sports are, of course, the reason for this site's existence. We're not asking anyone to give up a limb here. But by following the long-standing request to avoid getting in to dialog about the greek system, a lot of the animosity and name-calling can be eliminated or prevented before it happens.

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact one of the moderators by private message. Thanks for understanding, and thanks for your help.

So you delete the topic rather than deleting the thread ? I was posting on that topic, and only two threads were provocative. It begs the question, "were you a Sig Ep " ?

Exactly Bergermeister. It is really not that important. People need to move on. It is not worth the time to get all riled up about.

You would really think Greek organizations don't exist if you attended the second half of any SMU football game.

This board and SMU's administration have a little too cozy of a relationship for my tastes.
