That's pretty cool. I like what they've done with SMU Blvd by adding more foot traffic within walking distance of campus.

Good to hear they are adding more residential and I would assume retail or restaurants too.

Across the street bar is apparently going to be on Bar Rescue. I know the guy that owns ATSB owns SMU ice house as well, but I'm not sure if that will be a part of it or not. ATSB and Ice house are both absolute dumps now and it's nice that they will be fixing at least one of them up.

If you don't know what Bar Rescue is, its an awesome show on spike where this guy Jon Taffer goes around to the worst bars in the country and redo's them from top to bottom, including retraining the staff, firing worthless employees and rebrands pretty much all of them to make them new bars. He does a pretty amazing job in what is usually 4 or 5 days. Across the street bar could use it to say the least

Good because those bars are complete and total sh*tholes.

The BLVD development and that entire stretch of of land from Milo's to the stop light at the 75-SMU BLVD intersection is going to be some highly valuable real estate moving forward. With the new dorms, the Bush Library, and SMU making a movement to make that the main entrance to campus, all of the plots of land that run through that corridor are an absolute goldmine.

I still remember at Ice House the creepy bar manager with a bum leg, bad magic, and a circa-1980s pager who would hang out at the entrance and try and get people to come in. I went once on the promise of free beer and to see what kind of aliens were going to contact him on that brick sized pager. It wasn't worth it.

If anybody confirms the date of the show for Across The Street Bar definitely post it please!

That block really is awesome now. It's good news the development is going to continue. I drive through there regularly and it is always active (although by habit I still always call it Yale...)

ATSB has already planned/scheduled a going out of business concert for this summer.

I think the bar rescue rumor may have started because ATSB was advertising for it. I asked the owner and he said that they weren't going to be on the show, Spike was paying them to put up ads for the tv show.

Across the street and Ice House are closing down. Not sure what will come in its place though. The original plan was more apartments, but I'm fairly certain that was scraped. My understanding is that they were unable to fill the BLVD apartments this summer.

Across the Street was awful, but I love the SWC mural at the entrance... Complete with 80s era graffiti from when we were rivals with Texas.

Has anyone else mentioned what an AWFUL street name SMU Boulevard is? I can't tell you how many non-SMU people I've talked to who have assumed they'd have to "tailgate" at the Ice House or Milos because they thought that's what "The Boulevard" was. Change the street name to SMU Road or something.

If you're going for an SMU tailgate and don't know what the Blvd refers to, there's no hope for you
