Bush Avenue Modification - Starting May 19, 2014 and completed August 15, 2014
Smith-Perkins Commons (consolidation of these two halls) - starting 2015 and completed 2016
Southeast Pedestrian Mall - completed in August 2014
Mac's Place Patio Dining - completed in August 2014

Last I saw campus was the end of July when the outside structure for the data center was being completed. Anyone know how the former Mrs. Baird's site is looking?

Yeah I drove by campus earlier this morning. Wife and I just got back from two weeks in Europe and I wanted to see the progress made on that project. It has come a long way since I last saw it in late February. That is going to be a beautiful and dynamic entry to campus from Mockingbird once the Bush Avenue modification and the renovation of the Mockingbird retail strip is completed.

I'll be interested in seeing what happens east of 75 over on SMU Blvd. Isn't there some long term plans with the Pool and maybe some "baseball fields"? On the master plan they have the Fraternity Houses shifted around to Dyer Ct and have two buildings in their place. Have these two ever been announced what they are supposed to be? I wish that they would get the new Master Plan out to the public.

There are no plans for a baseball facility. The best (and most current) news on athletics facilities that I heard this week are the following:

- Natatorium to be built East of 75 at current site of SMU throwing field between Barley House and the SMU office complex. Look for this to break ground early in 2015 to be completed by 2016.

- Indoor Performance Center (IPF) for football and track at the current location of SMU soccer stadium. This too will likely break ground in early to mid 2015 and completed for 2016.

- Relocation of SMU soccer to Pettus. Same timeframe as Indoor Performance Center.

- Additional intramural field south of Bush Presidential Center. Speculation is this is SMU laying the groundwork for a lacrosse/field hockey program.

Those are projects that will be taking place in the near future. None of the folks I've spoken to have said anything about baseball.

Thanks for the info. Although I remember a couple years ago when I was talking in Dedman Rec that certain people did not want the new intramural fields to be referred to as lacrosse fields even though they will most likely be used the most for that. It would be nice if they could keep one field painted all the time for lacrosse so they didn't have overlapping paint lines come flag football, rugby lacrosse season.

IPF for real? Are the chances for this good or is it like SMU to big12 talk?

Yes. The IPF is happening. The university has already done a feasibility study on moving soccer to Pettus and while there will be some construction and modification needed it will be adequate for their needs. Several donors are already committed (you know the names; its the usual suspects) and I would expect an official announcement either in the fall of this year or early 2015. But yes it is absolutely going to happen.
