Frank Scotto, Torrance's mayor, said he had no warning of Toyota's decision. He said he did know that the automaker planned a corporate announcement for Monday.

"When any major corporation is courted by another state, it's very difficult to combat that," Scotto said. "We don't have the tools we need to keep major corporations here."

Hate to be negative but with a corporate relocation from Cali comes a bunch of middle age Cali transplants trying to turn our area into the same mess they are running away from.

Yeah and the funny thing is they don't learn. They keep voting for Democrats who completely f'ed up the state they left. Was on a date with a girl from CA who moved here because there were so many more job opportunities and the business climate was so much better here, but she was still a committed left-wing Democrat. There weren't very many dates after that

LOL!!! Well done East Coast.

Your point is well taken. I've talked to native Oregonians, Nevadians, & Arizonians & they're all complaining that the transplanted Californians that have 'escaped' have changed their state's voting patterns & the policies thus putting them on the same path of disaster as California. As an example, my brother-in-law moved his little company to Nevada but still votes like the quintessential Californian - 'stupid'! Liberalism et al. is a religion - not a political position anymore.

One the other hand, I have several friends who work for Toyota who will probably make the move & rest assured they vote with the majority of Texans! They're sick of this place & they understand where it's headed.

Well let's just hope that they are like the californians that I have worked with or went to school with. All the guys/gals that I got out of school with were a great fit with Texas and helped SMU rise in the conservative college rankings, but I guess things have changed and SMU is no longer on that list. As for those that I worked with, most of them are extreme left to me, but when you compare them to their friends back on the coast they are considered to be the crazy right wingers.

There is a reason why four of the fastest growing and most stable economies in the country are located in Texas (DFW, Houston, Austin, San Antonio). Compared to the rest of the country Texas is dirt cheap to live in for employees and to do business for employers. No state income tax, low corporate taxes, relatively low cost of living. The formula isn't complicated.
Back off Warchild seriously.
