Of course! But it's not an issue unless they want to get rid of the president for other reasons.

You got a university run by a Board of Regents all of which were appointed by the Governor who was a Milkman at your biggest rival

yeah, its a dirty shame the regents couldn't be more orange-tinted so that this stuff could have been whitewashed - just a dirty shame

The regents that are doing their job are doing it because they want to see UT be better - and that means getting rid of the cronyism.

If you want to know what motivated this move - research Rick Perry's "Seven Breakthrough Solutions" and Powers' public fight against them. Powers was a marked man and they finally found a screw-up to do him in

This is about Perry and his cronies trying to take UT down a peg. To the extent that Texas will have a "flagship" university, they want it to be TAMU.

I'm all in favor of Texas A&M taking the Flagship University status crown and seeing UT slowly crumble along with their conference.

Yeah, because what's better than having a state sponsored cult be Texas' flagship university? Especially when it's achieved through misappropriation of government resources and power!

Anything that damages UT is welcome. Big 12 will weaken significantly with a weak Cow program in hoops and football. UT kept us out of Big 12 and had a protagonist role in SMU getting sanctioned/getting DP.

I don't love any of the active players here, but knocking out some internal cronyism at UT seems like a very good thing. I don't think Perry is doing this because he thinks A&M will take their place - that is impossible.
