If the trip carries over into early August, go to the Tattoo in Edinburgh. The E. Festival is also cool and of course St. Andrews.

I get to Scotland for a 10 day golf trip on July 31.
Edinburgh is incredible. Spend a day touring the castle and the Scotch Whisky Experience right next door. Hike to the top of Arthur's seat one morning. Get your crew to Sheep's Heid tavern one night and play skittles in the back. You're welcome.

Assuming you are going to St Andrews, head to Dunvegans after your round or before it if you like. Owned by an Aggie, it is just down the street from the old course.
Drink lots of Tennents if you prefer lighter beer or Bellhaven (Scottish Stout, Scottish Ale, or Best) if you like a heartier beer.

Actually, not playing any golf. My wife isn't a fan, and I haven't played in about 5 years.
The castle is on the list, as well as a lot of scotch. Appreciate the bar recommendations. Always like to hit up the recommended places.
We get in on July 24 and leave on 8/3.

I'm drinking scotch, not a slurpee. No ice. Water on the side.

If you are a golfer at all, beg the missus to let you play Royal Dornoch while in the Highlands. It is a treat...........My second favorite course over there.....

Back in 1978 I attended the Tattoo with my girlfriend. Sat in the "end Zone" of the parade yard on semi-permanent, scaffolded grandstands. It was held at night and ended about 9:00PM. At the end as I was filing out down the steps, I felt someone tap me on the shoulder and say, " you sat next to me all night and you can't even say hello". It was an SMU friend of mine and his wife from Grapevine, Texas, who both had graduated with me back in '74. Hadn't seen them in over four years as we lost touch with each other around junior year, and as I lived in St. Louis. Small world. So definitely go and get "Tattooed". Also, visit Holyrood House, and climb the hill behind it.
