Postby SMU Football Blog » Wed Feb 25, 2015 9:47 am

Saturday the 28th at Noon @ Ford Stadium 2 of the best NCAA lacrosse teams in the country play. #7 Albany v. #9 Cornell. Albany has the best player in the country- Lyle Thompson. Lyle won the Tewaraaton Trophy last season (heisman equivalent). Lyle and his brothers are the famous Thompson Brothers that are the stars of the Irroquois National Lacrosse Team. Last summer at the Lacrosse World Championships, the Irroquois v Canada game was the best lacrosse game in a generation.

If you have even a passing interest in lacrosse or if you know a kid in the area that plays lacrosse, you owe it to yourself to get to this game.

Because it is part of the Patriot Cup, which raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project. There are also 4 HS games at Ford that day, including ESD, St Marks, Westlake, HP, Flower Mound and McKinney. Also SMU plays A&M.

Because lacrosse is growing like weeds in DFW.

Because of recruiting.

Grow the game.

Lyle is widely considered the best player in a generation, drawing comparisons to the former Syracuse great Michael Powell as a playmaking virtuoso, and hockey’s Wayne Gretzky as a transcendent figure.
