Hello all, I have been recently accepted into the Master's program at Guildhall. I've been reading about the school and am ecstatic to come aboard. I was wondering if there were any graduates or anyone who has went through the program on here that could give me some incite as to what to expect. Also in general information about the area, apartments, restaurants, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome. I have no clue about the program, but I'm jealous of a masters in video games.
As for apartments, it depends on your price range. Just across the freeway (75 Central) is the Village, which is a great option if you're on a budget like I was as a student. They have a several communities ranging in price and SMU has a free shuttle, at least it used to be free, that runs from the complex to campus.
As for restaurants, it depends on your taste, but Greenville Ave which is also just east of campus has a ton of restaurants and bars the further south you go.

First of all, congratulations! I don't know much about the Guildhall program aside from that face that it is very prestigious.
It is located at the Plano campus, not the main campus. It's a pretty nice area. I know there are a lot of housing options near the Shops at Legacy, so I would start there

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the names of some nearby areas. I got my undergraduate degree at Marshall University and am still in West Virginia so I don't know much about the area at all. Honestly the move itself is what gets me the most.

Sorry, I didn't realize the Guildhall School is in Plano. Disregard my Viillage recommendation. That would be a brutal commute.
I'm curious, what is our campus like in Plano? I've never been as I rarely venture north of 635.

but legacy is officially pretty nice now, with lots to do. Wont feel much like a college campus - more like going to a business oriented masters degree - but on gaming stuff. Come down to some SMU games to feel like a true Mustang.

Definitely look for apartments in or near the Legacy development in Plano. You could even look in southern Frisco. The Guildhall is in a very nice area with quite a bit to do, but the crowd is a bit older than the college crowd. The campus up there is very office-park though, not at all like the Dallas campus.
Come on down for some games for sure. Basketball at Moody is can't miss.

Thanks to all who've posted, I'll be sure to make it to some games, I'm a big all around football fan, basketball as well although I've never really watched SMU other than in passing or when they played Marshall.

http://shopsatlegacy.com/If you have the $$ on a student budget, live here. If you don't, this is the best spot to hang out in your area without driving down to Dallas.

Congrats and welcome to the area! Do yourself a favor and come down to the Dallas campus for football. I can promise you our tailgating is vastly superior to Marshall.

If you want to feel a little closer to the Dallas you could also look for apartments in the Addison area which is close to most everything in Dallas and has a nice restaurant scene. More young single professionals in the Addison Circle area. You'd be going North when traffic was going South and vice-versa
