SMU Reaches Historic Goal Of 5,000 Mustang Club Members
DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Athletics has reached its ambitious goal of 5,000 Mustang Club members, marking a significant achievement in support of SMU's transition to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
The "Drive for Five" campaign has been a resounding success, setting a new record for Mustang Club membership, far surpassing the previous high of 3,500 members. The campaign rallied alumni, fans, and supporters to join the Mustang Club and contribute to the continued growth and success of SMU Athletics.
The 5,000th donor, celebrated for this landmark achievement, is professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau '16, who made a generous $50,000 gift to the SMU men's golf program. DeChambeau's contribution underscores the strong support from alumni and the broader community for SMU Athletics and its future in the ACC.
"We are thrilled to have reached this historic milestone and are deeply grateful to all our Mustang Club members for their unwavering support," said Rick Hart, SMU's Director of Athletics. "This record-breaking membership total is a testament to the strength of the SMU community and its commitment to our student-athletes' success as we transition to the ACC."
The funds raised through the "Drive for Five" campaign will provide critical resources for SMU's athletic programs, enhancing facilities and overall competitiveness as the university steps onto the ACC stage.
On the heels of a school-record eight-championship season and set for its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), SMU is riding a surge of momentum heading into 2024-25.
SMU has already set a new season ticket sales record for Ford Stadium and is on pace to more than double the amount of season tickets sold for the upcoming year.
