Turner's Texas Visit This Weekend

Postby Pweesey » Fri Mar 28, 2014 1:23 pm

I don't think anyone expects him to commit while there, but a lot of people on the Texas side are feeling confident about landing him eventually. Anyone up for talking me off the ledge?

No reason to jump, but I'd prepare for a commitment to Texas because I think it's coming. They were the leader prior to this year, Hoopman also alluded to this back in January. They were always the leader, turned dark horse when Barnes job stability got a shot of adrenaline.

And Texas gave Barnes the dreaded one year vote of confidence.

Can LB and Staff schedule a last minute "in-home" visit with Myles Turner? This is the time. Momentum is on our side. Why not?

Has he ever taken an "official" visit to SMU?

No, but even if we were top of his list he probably wouldn't since we're practically in his backyard and 'unofficials' are convenient.

Need an official. So much more you can do for a recruit on an official vs unofficial.

Who really cares about official visits vs. unofficial visits for local recruits? (especially since Myles Turner is local) Isn't an in-home visit warranted with Myles Turner and family? Isn't an in-home visit easily accomplished for any local recruits?

LB gets on a plane and travels to the east coast and the west coast for recruiting. In-home visits seem pretty logical especially for local recruits. In-home visits should be our ace in the hole for all local recruits.

That might be true, but since we're a "dark horse" candidate at best it's still not surprising.

Do prospective student-athletes frequently use an 'official' on local schools? I'd always assumed they saved them for the longer trips.

I'm sure they've done (and, if necessary, are still doing) whatever they can. Have you seen evidence that they aren't that is leading you to keep reapeating this? I'd be interested to hear about it if you have.
