not worried. Minnesota doesn't have NEAR the talent Louisville does. They also don't have Rick Pitino...they have his son who is in over his head right now. I assume Rick will be running their practice today though

Nic Moore becomes even more important to us (if that's possible) against pressing teams. If he picks up 2 quick fouls, it could be a long night; if he can stay on the court for 35 minutes (healthy this time...no bad ankle), we should be fine.

They have about as much talent as Arkansas and they beat us. I hope the team takes this more seriously than the fans.

We are a completely different team then when we played Arky. And I said they don't have as much talent as Lville, which is a fact. But yes I respect them. The B1G is doing really well this postseason. Just watching last night, Pitino had such poor coaching...he was begging to give that game away

Minnesota has two good guards in Austin and Andre Hollins. They are from Memphis and are related to Lionel Hollins, the former head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. These guys are players and are quite capable of dropping 40 on you if you let them get hot (see vs. Memphis in the Battle 4 Atlantis 2013).

Typical SMU arrogance. If Nic Moore goes out of the game with foul troubles early we will have problems getting the ball past half court. The key is keeping Nic out of foul trouble.

yep, if Nic Moore picks up early fouls, I don't like our chances. I think we're better equipped to face a pressing d than we were early in the year but we'd still struggle mightily.

and you can bet Pitino Jr will take a page from his dad's plan and try to get Nic worked up and into early foul trouble

People keep bringing up Arkansas as a point about the press hurting us. We are a completely different team from when that was played, and oh by the way that game was in Arkansas which is a notoriously tough place for anyone to play. The press feeds itself when you are at home and you can have your fans energy behind you. Even in the game against Arkansas if they don't shoot completely lights out in the first half the game is different.

I'm not ragging on Minnesota, they are a good team. There is a reason they made the NIT finals. That said people saying we don't handle the press well are off. We don't handle the press well when our starters are not in the game. When are starters are in the game we tend to score a lot of points quickly against the press. We scored 18 on Louisville in the blink of an eye and Louisville is much much better than Minnesota. Finally, Minnesota has some very good players but they do not have anyone even close to the level of Russ Smith, we beat Louisville at moody even with the foul trouble if he doesn't go off the way he did (not missing a shot even though they were almost all contested).

SMU will be favored in this game probably by 2.5. The Court will be neutral or slightly tilted i our favor, and we shook off the New York City sluggishness. We are a top 25 team that got one of the worse NCAA tourney snubbs in history, we are better than a mediocre Pac-10 team, a mediocre-SEC team, a Mediocre ACC team, and we will show we are better than Mediocre BIg 10 team. If we play our game we win.

I think your homer assessment is off but we will see. According to what you are saying it should be a cakewalk. And this is not a home game for SMU but a neutral site. Also SMU did not finish in the final poll as a top 25 team. We barely beat mediocre PAC 12 and ACC teams. It's not like we blow them out by 30. We will see if they get Nic in early foul trouble or if we make early turnovers like we are prone to do (we are averaging double digit turnovers during the tournament).
