Sounds like this rumor is dead, but man he sure seems happy during games. Very glad he is staying! He was improving every game.

Sorry dude, I'm calling BS on your statement. First off, I will disclose that Jason is an old friend from high school and we have been friends for almost 25 years. Jason doesn't have an agenda here. If he had an agenda against SMU, he wouldn't be writing positive things about the program, which he has done in the past. Heck, he said we'd be just fine without Keith if he had left. Both Jason and I have had some very frank conversations about the program in the past and he's happy to see that we are finally making relevance in basketball after being a relative doormat for the past 20 years. The other thing about Jason is that he's very well connected in college basketball circles and he doesn't write stuff hoping that it sticks. He has an old school reporters mentality to report the facts and not hearsay which some reporters tend to do. He never said he was leaving, only that he was contemplating it. Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that Keith -and his handlers- would consider it. When you think about it, he's been "the man" where ever he's played. When kids like him that have always been catered to all their lives get that dose of reality that they aren't "the man" then things like this happen. Fortunately, the Godfather was able to get him to come to his senses.

The Godfather gets what he wants.
He and the WDNWHA committee run the show around here. Only true insiders really know that.

I'm not saying that King knew it wasn't true or that he knowingly had an agenda. I'm saying that Scott Drew likely placed this rumor with several sources that he knew King would talk to. Drew most likely was the first to tell him about this rumor. That is what Scott Drew does. King being a Baylor alum made him a good fit for Drew's plan. It's no secret that Keith's camp thought he should get more playing time. But it is also no secret that despite that, Keith was/is very happy at SMU. The speed of Keith's denial of this rumor certainly suggests (I'll give you that it doesn't prove) that Keith wasn't seriously contemplating leaving. I'll venture to guess that had King been able to contact Keith before his publishing deadline, this would have never been reported.

Even if you read some of the things from those near Keith that are out there, they were also surprised by the rumor.
