embarrased, but hopefulwell, I'm embarrassed by how we played in the second half. We really stunk it up bad. I lost several hundred in "friendly" bets today with Aggies. Like everyone said, the tackling was perhaps most disappointing. I thought we had improved that. Big lapse today. Still, I think we are getting better than the last two years and the first half was decent in spots.
I was not too surprised by today. They had fresh legs and better players to begin with and more anger. Not a good combination on the football field. Tulane defines our season next week. Its a must win to say the least.
what? a voice of reason at a time when we are supposed to be emotionally distraught?
You are absolutely right. Next week against Tulane is a MUST WIN if this program is going to take a step forward this year. Which SMU team will show up for that game? You have to be pretty good to win on the raod...even against teams with comparable talent. After TCU, I had built false hope that we might actually compete against the Aggies. Coming back to reality, I'm just hoping we can compete with our CUSA opponents. For this team to improve on last year, we have to win our conference home games. We will soon know if this team has improved enough to do that much.
They kicked our @ss. Period.
I would have been happy if SMU didn't beat themselves all over the field. Stupid mistakes, penalties, Missed PaT, fumbles, blocked punt, interceptions, missed tackles, etc. Certainly didn't expect to win at all but that was not pretty. I've seen this act before. ~ same stuff against TCU but they didn't capitalize on our mistakes.
A&M beat us silly today, but we had a bunch of chances to get some more points on the board in the first half. Not that we would have won but at least would have been nice to get a few more points on the board.
I am wondering when Givens is going to catch a ball? I counted three drops by him alone along with that little mistake in the TCU game. I love the kids speed but some stick-um wouldn't be bad.

My take on the game: (1) Special teams need work. McMurtry, ouch. Mentzel, ouch. However the returns actually looked better as did the punt block. (2) Tackling needs to be improved (not sure if that was just tiredness or A&M's size and strength vs. ours). (3) All our receivers girlfriends may find that they have something else in bed with them, a football which the receivers have to hold onto day and night. I hate to say this, but Fran didn't run up the score, we let them run it up. He put in the second string and except for one long bomb by their second string QB to a wide open receiver, they kept their passes short and ran the ball down our throats and we didn't stop them. You can't tell their second stringers not to play. He did take a knee on the last play at the one. Like I said, we didn't tackle them.
I went to the game and thought that the team gave a good effort. I was proud of them. Thanks also to the band for making the trip. Y'all did great. Let's beat Tulane.
