An Aggies take on the game...

Postby Bocephus » Mon Sep 19, 2005 7:55 pm

Here is my take:

First off, Romo is a much better passer than I thought. Y'all need to keep him at QB. I saw very few uncatchable balls. Your WRs dropped a few early on but made some tough catches later on so I guess it evened out. A&M definitely needs to work on our secondary. Don't know how many 3rd and longs y'all converted against us but there were a lot. I tivo'd the game and haven't watched it yet but suposedly our OL opened up some big holes. I know that in the first half we didn't run up the middle too well. We ran to the outside well but we pretty much do that one everyone with our speed. Poor tackling by your DBs in the second half really killed you and opened the game up. I think you guys could win 5-6 games this year and save Bennett's job if you let Romo continue to start and you remain relatively healthy. I think Bennett will screw it up and get himself fired but we will see. if Bennett doesn't screw it up the talent is there to reach a bowl game.

Most impressive statof the day may be that I don't think I saw a single player fomr either team go down due to cramps.

SMU's head trainer Cash Birdwell is a class act in his last season at SMU. He's been through these games a bunch of times and made sure the players were well hydrated. Hot, tired, but well hydrated.

Bochephus, are you yankin our chains? What makes you say we are a potential winning team after watching that performance? Now some of can see some things to build on, but I dont see an Aggie having anything good to say after watching our tackling against you.

tackling is a fixable problem. You have a good RB in Martin and a QB who can get your WRs in the ball in Romo. He is mobile enough to avoid the blitz and he has poise. I already knew your defense was pretty decent. Add it all up and you have a team that can win 6 and go to a bowl if it plays close to its potential.
