I seriously doubt that-it will average less than 15,000 in tickets distributed-probably 12,000 for actual butts in seats
Agree stallion. 15k to watch a winless team play no name opponents? I'd be shocked

Ha, no name opponents. That is what the ECU fans were calling us last week in regards to why their attendance was off. We are what we are.

I get what you are saying about attendance, but the posters on here aren't where the problem lies. We are already there at the games. Try the students.

100% true, which goes back to the original point of this post. SMU, and anybody who cares about the future of the program, needs to do whatever is necessary to get butts in the seats. The attitude and culture of the SMU fan needs to change as dramatically as the attitude and culture of the team. If those on this board, students, and current Dallas alumni are of the attitude that they will not come out to a game unless we have a winning record and play TCU, Baylor, A&M etc. I'm not sure how this ever works. If this group won't show up just to support their school, have fun on the Blvd, and then enjoy a Saturday afternoon of football, ?????????? If we didn't have a bye week, I can only imagine how many SMU fans would prefer to stay at home, or out on the Blvd., and watch the BAylor vs TCU game on TV, all the while lamenting how they've left SMU behind, vs showing up in the stadium to support their own? Rose colored glasses I guess.

No, try the alumni base that is not on here and not otherwise engaged. THAT is the root of the problem, not the students.

I'm making sure that all of my tickets are scanned every game purely to get more Mustang Club points. I want to get better basketball seats next year

Well, you're surely not going to reach them by posting on here.

I said this before, I'm a college football fan ... actually college sports in general. Last year we lost some close games at home but exciting games none the less, I enjoyed them. The Tech game was fun and close to the 4th qtr. Prior to last season, our home conf record was like 15-1, so odds were you would see a W. Cinci is not a no name team to me, or UCF, or Houston, or Louisville, or Rutgers, Navy (Navy plays everyone tough) etc. Those teams have been solid for awhile, Houston back in the CK days ... wow. To the casual fan sure, but they are bandwagon fans. They will not show no matter who we play, unless we are winning big and for years, then they will be gone tomorrow if we stub a toe. Then there are the social fans that come to the Blvd, I don't know if they will ever get-off the Blvd.
So, marketing, marketing, marketing ... sell your brand. Engaged coaches (HC) with the greeks, students, community ... get creative (the Bill Veck school of selling a team/brand), until which time the product improves. We are not going to solve the issue with SMU students or Alums ... not enough to go around. Jerry Jones has proven you can do it with a average team at best that underperforms. For us on PF, keep coming and support as we do, and do our best to spread the word an encourage others to get on board.

Wish I could get a flight back to Cincinnati Saturday night after the game. I would love to be there.

All this lecturing to the fans on here and talk of marketing makes me laugh.
We're the proverbial Phil Bennett team wasting time thinking about swing gate PATs when we've got bad fundamentals. Fix the fundamentals (win consistently for multiple years, win a few shocker games against the big boys, win the conference) and all the other stuff will fix itself. Writing high and mighty sermons on Ponyfans, running commercials for a team that gets blown out by UNT, throwing the students under the bus... It's completely irrelevant.
Let's say we squeak our way into another garbage bowl in 2015. Stadium will be more full in 2016. Win the American in 2016. Stadium will be more full in 2017. Beat TCU and win the American in 2017... and so on. That's the only way fan support will get to where you guys want it to be.

Oh yes, it's so simple, you've just cured cancer with your one magnificent post. Thanks, why didn't anyone else think of that, now we can all be quiet.

Snarky comments...
WOW Mason reaches out to SMU players and asks for their best. Be full of energy, give it your all. Pop the guy in front of you... Here let me show how it is ... in practice... Doing the best he can for the university you got your degree from, and this is your response.
Tell me JJ gave 25 % of the effort and energy on Mas.
And you want to complain.
I'll be at every game this year. I'll stay as long as the team plays with maximum effort. They may not win but won't have the attitude of JJ. (Quitter)
I looked up old posts... September 2012 I was asking for JJ to get the shaft.. He quit working then. He Stole 4 million dollars from his " friends" in the circle.
SMU can and should be a factor in NCAA football. Not under the same criteria. SMU people are winners.. not whiners.
Get behind this team and coach. Let Turner know where you want to be in three years.
