Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
Please don't promote this jerk until he has something positive to say about the school and football program.
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Lifewouldn't miss it. he was a truly great player.
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football LifeI would watch it if I got the NFL channel. He was a great one for SMU and did get involved. Dickerson goes to the Vard and is gracious with his time and celebrity. Takes pictures and friendly to all.
Sure, his words recently may have been imprudent. But he still help put SMU on the map. Last edited by ponyte on Thu Oct 09, 2014 3:44 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
The players chronicled in this series normally wax poetic about their alma maters. Methinks Dickerson will have something positive to say about SMU. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
.... and possibly the greatest athlete never to have won the Heisman? Herschel was good but IMO Eric was better. Just throwing it out there.
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football LifeNo issues whatsoever with Hershel beating ED for the Heisman. I am at peace with that.
George Rodgers, on the other hand............
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
I could live with Hershel, but I cannot live with Perv State getting the National Championship over an undefeated SMU team. If you look at both teams pre-bowl records, SMU's strength of schedule was more difficult than PSU's. Perv State won because the media wanted to give the title to a "clean" program run by a man like Paterno. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
There is no way Herschel was better than Dickerson as a Senior-not even close. Walker averaged about 5.0 yards a carry while Dickerson averaged 7 yards per carry. Craig James is the only thing that kept Dickerson from winning the Heisman because Dickerson took only about 45% of the snaps. The First year in the NFL Dickerson sets an NFL Rookie rushing record that still stands. He was simply the best running back in football from 1980-1986. No one can touch his numbers during his prime. Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
Cogent, relevant, poignant insight from Stallion. Could not have said it better myself.
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football Life
Facts are Pedophile state is a huge giant school. 50 times more real "fans" than SMU had even at that time. We had no chance with the tie. Everyone was gunning for us NOT to win the NC. Even all those Nebraska fans who hate PSU really did not want a SMALL school from Texas on the national stage. There was a lot of that back then. People forget. A scenario playing out like that today would be different in that SMU would have much more support nationally. With all the media now days. I mean how many Boise Junior College fans were there really before they beat OU on that trick play? (not many nationally)
Re: Eric Dickerson: A Football LifeI don't agree with the way Mr. Dickerson went about venting his frustration, but at the end of the day he is a Mustang, just like all of us. I am proud that he chose SMU. He should be a great ambassador and asset to SMU. I really hope he can get back on board with what we are trying to do.
