Bob StittThis guy is literally a gold mine and would be a really smart investment for head coach. Read the two articles:
http://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal ... hool-mines http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nc ... e/1659819/ Also, Willie Fritz is 7-2 in Georgia Southern, his two losses vs P5 by less than 4 points and makes 300,000 a year...
Re: Bob Stitt
Stitt would be a great "mind" to add to the staff; however, I would not want him running the entire show. With no ties to Texas or experience with a pressure packed job (which our job will be), I think the jump would be "too much." Fritz could be a home run hire; however, Georgia Southern is winning with a run based offense. With 45 small WR's on our roster, we couldn't run that offense for a few years. If we hired him, he would probably need to hire an entirely different offensive staff from the Georgia Southern staff. If we hired Fritz and an offensive staff capable of building an effective offense with our current roster, I would be happy. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Bob StittI want to find a coach who is going to take their basic principles and tweak them to fit current personnel until they can recruit to fit their system. Basically do what a lot of folks were upset at June for not doing when he first came in here.
Re: Bob Stitt
How can the SMU job be described as "pressure packed"? The Dallas media barely pays attention and the empty stands speak for themselves. The job has far more internal pressure than external.
Re: Bob StittTo be great SMU is going to need a coach who won't take the job unless SMU commits to being great. In other words someone not like me who would take the job for millions just for the money and lose every game but be rich.
Re: Bob StittWillie Fritz will be back in Texas this weekend playing Texas St.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Bob Stittpossibly meeting with hart??
Re: Bob Stitt
ghost- I will be your asst. coach for a measly 500k. I think I still remember a little single wing, wing-T, split-T and option T. ![]() ![]() P.S.- I wear socks and don't have any island style shirts.
Re: Bob Stitt
If he doesn't win big, it won't be tolerated by the powers that be. At the Colorado School of Mines, they don't really care how Stitt does. They just don't want to be embarrassed. Last edited by Digetydog on Wed Nov 05, 2014 6:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Bob StittThere will be pressure anywhere for not winning. There will not be pressure at SMU like at top ranked P5 schools where it is national championship or go. Question is whether or not a coach can win at SMU. If he does it right he can.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Bob Stitt
Is that you June? SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Bob Stitt
At Southern Methodist Univesity, they don't really care how xxxx does. They just don't want to be embarrassed. Turner?
Re: Bob Stitt
Lol you are joking...right?
Re: Bob Stitt
How do you define "win big"? Conference championships? Access bowl bids? Playoff invitations? Or are you saying the next coach will be fired if the team isn't 8-4 (or better) by 2017? 2018?
Exactly. SMU hasn't display a "win or else" mentality in 30+ years. You suddenly expect the school to change attitude for the next coach? What tangible indication of that have you seen?
