Our team should have appeared in at least one NCAA tournament before this skanky plan was presented. For those of us who have attended every game for 20 years or more and donated a lot to the Mustang Club, this is a screw off maneuver. Except for a portion of the 1980's, The program was never competitive until last year. All this does is alienate any sketch of an increased Dallas fan base that the program has been looking for. I predict this will alienate enough people to discontinue making pledges to the Mustang club. Feed the rich and grow poor. This also tells me that Moody's capacity was reduced too much.

I believe that everyone who has had season tickets for 4 years or more is going to be grandfathered in, so if you have had tickets for 20 years I think you will be ok.

This makes the school look stupid. They increase prices this past year and require donations because of all of the hype. Now they are going to rearrange seating and require more money?? Dumbest thing the school could do.

I really hope they don't screw the young alumni's over. There is no way they can expect to have 22-28 year olds paying $3,000 + for BBall tickets. Instead, my tickets will go to some ticket broker that will sell the seats to whoever and they will definitely not be as loud as me.

I didn't make the cut. If they price people out of seats, the big wigs will only show up for key games and it will be a bad atmosphere. Make it fair and within reason. To me, it's too much too soon.

Things are looking up but we have not even made the tournament in 20 years -- it's very early but not looking like a lock this year either as most would have thought.

The red seats are a good location but need to be re-org'd b/c they are terrible and tight for the money if they are going to shell shock us. I am hearing $2500 donation per seat + tickets = $7K for 2 seats. Ridiculous.

It's absolute bush league in every way. I'm currently in the red seats and graduated 2002. My brother and a few of my alum friends are with us. All in our 30's. We are by far the loudest in our area. There are also older alum in the row below us who are rowdier than most and will be priced out as well next year.

Over half the people down there currently act like its a social get together and look at us strangely as we scream and stand.

Get ready for an even worse group of fans down there next year.

I read the e-mail too late and didn't get a spot, but I'll be interested to hear from those that do attend.

I am planning on sending them an e-mail politely outlining my concerns. I suggest everyone do the same. I tried to remain calm since no specifics have actually been released yet and I'm sure they really do want to balance their "cash grab" with keeping new and old season ticket holders happy.

I don't oppose trying to make money while the product is "hot". SMU does need funds to keep improving the program. I just hope they've thought this through... because despite recent advances the long-term track record isn't great.

My personal thoughts:
1) Price Increase: Yes, the product on the court (not to mention the court itself) is better. Demand is higher. This should be considered and I'm willing to pay a bit more. That said, we already paid increased prices last year "on faith" and even more dramatically increased this year. (Even though some of us got a one year delay in paying the per seat donation, it will hit us in addition to any new increase next year year.) Additionally, we have not won our conference or been to the NCAA tournament in a long time, so using schools that have (or regularly do) as comparables will not make me any happier about a significant increase.
2) Reshuffling: This is what really gets under my skin. We have sold out season tickets for exactly one season. Why is this already necessary? I'm trying to not complain much before we hear more, but kicking me out of the location I've been sitting in for years is going to really [deleted] me off. I'm pretty attached to my seats.

All that said, I hate to say it but Rick Hart could probably shoot my dog and burn my house down and I'd still be at every basketball game. I guess they probably know that, too, so I'm not sure I have much leverage...

Seems to me there are enough seats to go around if you can get rid of the ticket brokers. Also, I am confused on why this relocation system needs to take place anyway. Sometimes in life, you snooze, you lose, even if you are a fat cat. Those that don't have the seats they yearn for were probably not keeping up with the program at the time anyway. Keep the prices where they are until something is actually accomplished. Right now the only legimigate reason I can imagine that would justify any increase in ticket prices would be if we needed the money to pay Coach Brown and if that is the case sign me up!

If that's the price, much better than what I had been told. I'm guessing seats in the lower part of the "200" sections will require $1000-1250 per seat donation and $500 per seat in the upper half of those sections.

Actually, you're right. Just remembered I figured it was 20k to renew my seats. Mea culpa
