Not sure that Woody would be considered 'their most beloved coach ever'. A lot of people used to change the words to Carmen Ohio to - Oh come let's sing Ohio's praise and let's get rid of Woody Hayes. Anyway, sad to say Woody was not a well person when that happened. IIRC it was one of his players not an opposing player. He should have retired long before that incident.

No it was an opposing player who had just intercepted a pass. He had just coached too long.

Agree- he should have retired years before. He was a very fascinating person. Not many people knew that he used to buy ancient chinese books of war and have them translated so he could try and apply some of those philosophies to his game plans..

back on topic...it was the Big 10 that Vegas had going 0-10 in their bowl games and that conference has stepped up big time. Big XII has to be thankful for TCU right now, but they have 2 more opportunities today against PAC-12 schools to show they aren't the worst. If ECU can beat Florida, we can all continue talking about how overrated the SEC was this year

PAC 12 and Big 10 have played great in their bowl games. Makes you wonder if Texas is seeing that PAC 12 dream again.

Yes, very impressed in particular with Wisconsin and OSU victories against the mighty SEC west yesterday.

I doubt if the froggies could even beat Wisc. let alone OSU. however we will never know since they didn't play in the 'final 4' games.

(Through Jan. 1 games but added the coog high game). B12 only has one more game and even if it wins I think the b12 is the weakest p5 conference top to bottom.

POWER 5 CONFERENCES
Pac-12: 5-1 (wins by Utah, Arizona State, USC, Stanford and Oregon)
Big Ten: 5-4 (wins by Rutgers, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State)
SEC: 5-5 (wins by South Carolina, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia)
ACC: 4-7 (wins by NC State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Georgia Tech)
Big 12: 1-4 (Win by Tcu)

THE REST
Conference USA: 4-1 (wins by Marshall, Western Kentucky, Rice, Louisiana Tech)
Independents: 2-1 (wins by Navy, Notre Dame)
American 2-2 (wins by Memphis and Houston)
Sun Belt: 1-1 (win by Louisiana-Lafayette)
Mountain West: 3-4 (wins by Utah State, Air Force and Boise State)
MAC: 1-3 (win by Bowling Green)

That's pretty damning evidence on behalf of the B12. I also fully expect KSU and Okie Lite to lose today also.

Interesting that the "worst" teams in the SEC West won their games and the rest of that group lost. It looks like the SEC East might win all their games (if Florida can beat ECU). Bowl season really is a lot of fun

It just means all of the teams in the SEC West were a little above average. Not great, not bad. Put them against another above average team, they struggle (Auburn, LSU). Put them against good teams and they lose convincingly. Put them against bad teams, and they win.

Or perhaps having to play against the top teams in the country every week take a toll on a team over a season. You ask for a weak SMU OOC. SEC West plays a top 10 team almost every week during conference.
