Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci Threadtypical of basketball teams on the road against good competition. Go have your inferiority complex somewhere else.
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci Thread
But we're supposed to win every single game!
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci ThreadThat sucked.

Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci ThreadBottom line: look what I posted at halftime. Cincy took THEIR offense up a notch and hit their shots. This is what WE needed to do. Need everybody to get to Moody and be loud and rowdy. Hopefully this team learns from this come AAC tourney time - since those are "road" games. Learn from this and go beat the [Deleted] out of Memphis.
There +3.
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci ThreadIt is not frustrating that we lost on the road against Cincy. What is frustrating is how it happened. We beat ourselves ans handed them the game. We played as bad as possible and barely lost.
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci Threadagree Oja. Need a bounce back game vs Memphis.
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci ThreadIt takes a decade or two of watching college basketball where you realize how hard it is to beat a good team on the road. You have 2 teams-your home team and your away team-and they generally do not look anything alike. See SMU which is averaging 1 loss at home per year. Cincy held serve

Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci ThreadI don't get all the posts that suggest that this loss knocks us out of the tournament picture. I can only assume that those people don't watch college basketball very much
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci Thread
It does no such thing. However, HOW we lost is extremely frustrating and I assume people are letting off steam. I would be to but due to the early start time I was not drinking ![]()
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci ThreadLost the game in the first half. Too many uncontested misses and unforced turnovers in the first frame. If we convert those, it's a double digit game going into halftime and Cincy isn't coming back from that.
Everyone is frustrated because we are obviously a better team than Cincy, but played horribly. If Nic and MK are going to be that bad and you are going to turn it over 20 times, you aren't going to win on the road. Forced turnovers are going to happen, but the unforced are what is killing us. LB had to sit Nic in the second half for a long stretch when we got down by 8 because he was playing so poorly. That said, for all that stuff to happen and we are close in the end on the road against probably the second best team in conference, that is probably a good sign. Something to keep your eye on: road scoring: 56, 68, 62, 50. Next step for Frazier is to be able to hit those open looks on the road in a tight game. He was really short on his shot early - choke time. rimmed a free throw early, first shot was short, and then he passed up some open looks. We need him or Kennedy in order to score the ball on the road.
Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci Thread
I think it's less about suggesting the team is knocked out by this loss, and more that this is not a tournament team if it continues to play this brand of hoops. Same mistakes, costly turnovers, inefficient offense. That's the core of the frustration, sloppy play in big, but winnable games. #GodFather #Tempo

Re: Official: SMU vs. Cinci Thread
I think the point is that since we lost our best OOC games, and the conference being relatively weak this year, there isn't much margin for error in conference and this would have really helped. Which is why it sucks we played the way we did down the stretch. No the sky is not falling, but there aren't a lot of opportunities for good wins on the road in conference, which is what I think is worrying some people.
