Our conference isn't that strong this year as shown by the lack of marquee wins and "bad losses" by the top four teams, and with the lack of respect it got from the committee seeding the tournament last year, there is zero reason the think it will get even as much respect this year. It could easily be a 2 bid conference. This was a very winnable game today, but in typical SMU fashion, the team pissed down its leg when playing on the big stage. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

LOL, OK... You worry about this loss, I'll worry about the potential loss to a Tulane or UCF type

i think folks are confusing sloppy play against poor competition with play that looks sloppy due to playing a great defensive team. I am not worried about a 6 point loss vs Cinn on the road.
We need to hold serve on every home game, and try to pick up a win on the road vs Temple or UConn on the road. Personally i think that will be easier vs Uconn since Temple looks really strong.
We can get our mojo back when we get better inside play from MK and Ben. That will give us better looks outside also.
I agree its frustrating, since we could have had this one - and would be in fantastic shape if we had managed to pick it up - but to say we suck or its typical or we are not a tourney team just shows lack of basketball knowledge.

- ben Moore is too soft. Does this kid not know how to dunk bc he can't make a simple layup - don't understand why we went away from YM - MK is so out of shape that I don't know of getting minutes in these games will help. He needs to work on his conditioning each and every day. That layup he missed was terrible, he hs no legs and against a rugged and fall Cincy team he only hurt us - Keith is too inconsistent and will only become a great player if he learns the mental aspect. He had no confidence and every single one of his shots were short as a result - kudos to Manuel - the only one that came to play today - we need a true pg desperately bc BM just makes too many boneheaded mistakes with the he ball. It was the TOs that got Cincy back in the game - martin and emelogu are just not adding value to this team

Dribbling off ones foot and not catching the ball underneath the basket when it hits you in the hands has zero to do with a "great defensive team." Much like Indiana this game was ours for the taking. We did nothing with opportunity in the first half then did about everything we could to help cinci on that 15-2 run in the second half

Naive to say it's not both, of course we'll give credit to that Defense, consistently one of the tougher defenses in the country. But either you didn't watch the game or you don't watch basketball if you wont call that sloppy basketball...

I think right now all of the tournament talk needs to be put on hold. We first need this team to show us something they haven't a consistent and complete game that shows good effort, few turnovers, and smart coaching. Again I'm a a huge LB fan but he must come up with a consistent rotation especially one he can count on in the most important moments.

Right now SMU looks very NITish. But the more MK plays the better we will get.

agree zippy - and i will never understand why he doesn't call time outs in obvious spots. that is hard to watch. Does it at home also. Makes me want to move my seat behind the bench so i can "suggest" time outs. I'm sure he would appreciate the advice from an ex Y coach.

I think my frustration is that if this is a bubble tourney team, and I'm not even certain they are, you need quality road wins to get in.
This was there for the taking, a quality road win, we didn't take advantage.

I must have been watching a different game. Mediocre UC team w/out the fire of Cronin on the bench. SMU defeats SMU. That simple.

UC is not mediocre. We might have been today - but they are a very strong defensive team. I think we beat them by 12 at home though.

Another thing and Not criticizing HCLB but can we please use the 5 timeouts we have. Yes save one or two for the end but use them when we make one boneheaded play after another and we need to stem the tide.
I also think In games like these we need to use the bench less. No martin or emelogu. When we were up in the 1h we could have extended the lead but took out NM who was playing fine and took out frazier who needed to stay in for martin and emelogu. I was shaking my head and felt it would come back to bite us.

Not if we don't improve our interior play (which I hope we will). And get another outside scorer to help Nic.
