Re: Chad Morris attending Rush
Yeah.....I'm going to take Chad over Phil for the win when it comes to relating to students and motivating hyperactive late-teens. That vid he did drawing plays on the chalk board while chugging redbull, I think his personality will be a match for that group and it will be the first of many changes that will reap rewards over the next few seasons. Or, we can all just [deleted] that he has been here over a month and we haven't won a game yet.
Re: Chad Morris attending RushI liked Phil until he dissed Chad in a interview after the hire
Re: Chad Morris attending Rush
So, like 2500?Just asking cause this year we had over 1k students at the games (at least first half). Students are key, but the 10k sleeping fans in Dallas who are waiting for an excuse to show up is what we really need.
Re: Chad Morris attending Rush
What did he say?
Re: Chad Morris attending RushSmart [deleted] response like you will need luck at SMU
Re: Chad Morris attending RushSame kind of luck you need to be a decent defensive coordinator... .like having Bill Snyder as your coach and Terrance Newman at DB
Re: Chad Morris attending Rush
same kind of luck that you need to hold a 20 point 4th quarter lead? Derail the Frogs!
Re: Chad Morris attending RushCoach Bennett has an axe to grind with SMU. He wasn't given a fair shake here and I understand that. June and now Coach Morris are working with a system in place that Phil never enjoyed.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Chad Morris attending RushExactly the same kind.
Re: Chad Morris attending Rush
And this is what got me to start attending games regularly as a student and buy season tickets as soon as I graduated. Obviously Morris isn't going to radically improve football attendance just by talking to one small group of students, but every little bit helps and represents another step in the right direction.
Re: Chad Morris attending RushI don't care if he's speaking in front of 20 students in the Dungeons and Dragons Club. We need everyone to help us get to where we want to go. Speaking to the frats and sororities is very smart and can only be viewed as something positive. I doubt June even knew where the houses were on campus. Coach Morris understands that when you have a relatively small community of fans in an area with huge state schools and traditional powers that you will need all hands on deck. I fully expect him to engage any groups willing to entertain him.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Chad Morris attending RushIts going to have to start with alumni, students and SMU fans and family. The area College Football fan will be the last to jump on board and quite frankly its pretty doubtful that will ever happen. But for recruiting purposes we need students and season ticketholders to build a reliable core. Our sparse and checkered crowd ruins our chances at most recruits with options. It wouldn't be so bad if students filled the student section and more than 50% of season ticket holders actually consistently showed up.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Chad Morris attending RushWhat's the chance of CM and the football staff holding a "Town Hall" meeting about the upcoming season for alumni in the area that follow the program.
Re: Chad Morris attending Rush
It's going to have to start in 3-4 years when and "if" we start winning against P-5 schools in a consistent and convincing fashion. You could offer every student $200 to go AND STAY at the game........ but if it means watching an 1-5 team play Memphis at 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday, 95% of the students would turn down the deal.....including the ones who have to work their way through college. CM's Ra Ra School Spirit speech isn't a bad thing. But it will have 0.00% impact on students going to the game. On the other hand paying for marketing is a bad idea as the money could be spent better elsewhere.... My recommendation instead would be to pay a TCU booster, alum, former player, super fan, etc. to come and speak to the SMU students to tell them what a laughing stock they are, the SMU football team is, their school is and how pathetic they must be to have zero involvement in "THEIR" football team or really care. Have fun at rush... Have fun watching your team play in the new Division III.
