Crosby looked the part at safety, but was buried, and that frosh coming in looks outstanding. Might mean Sutton moves back to defense as well.
Ace coming back... hmmmm. He never had a clue in June's offense. He was the laziest person out there at practice. He didn't run hard routes often. And was ALWAYS drastically out of shape. It will be interesting to see what the S&C coach does with him, if he can handle it.
Ace might be one of those guys, however, who wanted to be really competitive and couldn't handle the laid back repetition of June's practices.
Then again, they still have Holloway at 368 lbs, so the roster might not be that accurate .
Ace 'wanted to be really competitive'.........BUT never had a clue, was the laziest person at practice, didn't run hard routes, and was ALWAYS drastically out of shape.
Seems like a real stretch to try to blame June's practices for this guy.
The Ace thing is a head scratcher: if his work ethic is so bad why did the staff add him? Did they not get the memo? Has he changed his attitude? Also, where has he been? Was he on scholarship last year? All seems really odd.
It is a real stretch. Just trying to figure out why they would bring someone back who, like Ojaipony says, runs so counter to the hard work preached by the new staff.

He's been training in a cabin a la J.J. Watts' plan.

Do you have speed or are you chasing it?
I've been pounding Red Bulls like they were speed. I could be that "heavy hitting" Star Back at my size. Get it? Heavy hitting! Because kickboxing. Jokes.

Dah, We is start training tomorrow.
BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Regarding Ace, the new staff has been pretty clear that they are letting everyone go forward with a clean slate.
They are not looking at hardly any game film etc, but will evaluate based on what happens between now and the spring game, then forward towards the fall.
i don't see that they have anything to lose. I am sure they will be very clear cut - do what is expected at a high level of effort and focus or you won't be part of SMU football going forward.
Hopefully ACE has learned a great lesson and will really work at it and do his part. If he does that it would be awesome for him and his maturity, whether or not he contributes much on the field. If not, I think he moves on from SMU football very quickly and all the new staff did was to give him a fair shot.

I can't speculate as to whether or not he was enrolled but he wasn't on the roster so that'd make him a RS JR but if 2014 counts against his eligibility then he'd be a RS SR
