Figured I'd just start one thread for all the vacancies around the NCAA. Kinda surprised Steve Lavin is out at St. John's. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mens-colleg ... teve-lavinSt. John's coach Steve Lavin and the school have mutually agreed to part ways after five seasons. Lavin met with school officials multiple times this week. ESPN.com reported earlier in the week that Lavin and the school were deep into talks on a contract extension. Lavin led the Red Storm to the NCAA tournament, where they lost to San Diego State in the second round last Friday. "Coach Lavin returned high expectations to our men's basketball program and represented St. John's in a positive way," St. John's athletic director Chris Monasch said in a statement Friday. "We appreciate his commitment to the program and to our student-athletes over the past five years." Lavin coached the Red Storm to two NCAA appearances and two NITs in five seasons. He missed one season while recovering from cancer

at Tennessee there is going to be a finding that Tyndall intentionally obstructed investigation-he's going to get a "lifetime" ban I bet. The one area in which the NCAA has increased punishment in recent years is in holding head coaches and assistant coaches personally responsible for violations. Last time I looked about 100 coaches had received "show cause" suspensions http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... ie-tyndall

I haven't kept up with Mullen. Has he been a coach? (sorry if it's a stupid question)
