Good guard play and athletic bigs beat the press every time (which is why NBA teams never press). Havoc might have to be adjusted to more full court man (like louiseville plays) because there are usually 1-3 very good big 12 teams.

That's my thought as well. We could be staring right down the hoops barrel of the run n shoot. Havoc is what happens when superior athletes take on less athletic programs. When you have wicked PG play and pass a team, it's lay-up central

Arkansas does pretty well with the full court pressure too.

What teams in the Big 12 have wicked guard play and are passing teams? Also wasn't the run and shoot and the spread designed to help lesser talented teams compete with more talented teams? It could be all about conditioning as well. He also might be able to recruit superior talent at Texas. I wouldn't go pronouncing gloom and doom on him just yet. I think he will need a couple of recruiting classes to get the player that fit his style.

Hearing that Texas baseball is considering hiring John Savage from UCLA and parting ways with Garrido. John has everything that AD Steve Patterson looks for in a head coach... recent winning success and a last name that starts with a "S" that is also an adjective.

Listening to him talk, he struck me as a guy who played a system that fit the talent that he had and was likely to get at VCU. With different talent and different opponents at Texas, he appears smart enough to make the necessary changes.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

I'm not saying he won't be successful, I'm just saying I'm not sure HAVOC as a style translates. He could end up being a helluva major league coach, but how different is he than Jeff Capel or Anthony Grant when they left VCU? It looks good on paper, but the rubber still has to hit the road.
