Championship moneyHow much money did we get last year from the UConn men's and women's championships? We should get the women's money again in a couple of hours.

Re: Championship money
Hopefully. So much easier to root hard for Connecticut when they are playing Notre Dame! Shake It Off Moody
Re: Championship moneyConnecticut up 31-23 at the half.
Notre Dame was able to hang with the Huskies until a late run to close the half. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Championship moneyHope they win but NCAA women doesn't pay out much at all
Re: Championship moneyEither way, that's a lot if sandwiches.
Re: Championship money3 of the last 4 (men's and women's) national champions have come from our conference. Thanks, UConn.

Re: Championship money...and 5 of the last 6 defending national champions have played in our conference.
Re: Championship moneySo can anyone answer the original question? I'm very curious. Researching yielding very little, but very little research being yielded (on my part) . . .
Re: Championship moneyOver $2,000,000 which will start decreasing dramatically as Louisville and BE credits fall out
Re: Championship money
One time payment last year? How is that paid out? Or are you just talking about TOTAL? Not annual right?
Re: Championship moneyThe thing to understand is that NCAA tournament credits are paid out over a number of years, 6 I believe. So any results this year are spread out.

Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Championship moneyThere is no extra money for winning the championship. Teams get a credit for each game they play. However, the most credits you can earn in one tourney is 5 so all four final four teams get the same number of credits.
All of the credits for a conference are added up and split evenly by the teams in that conference, over 6 years. So, if credits were $300k (a guess but at the high end of the range I think) last year then UConn got $1.5 million for the conference. However once you divide that by 6 years and 11 schools (not sure what the agreement was for the schools coming and going but it is available via Google) it really is not that much per year per school for just them winning it all. That said, having a lot of teams win a lot of games in the tourney year after year obviously adds up.
