False narrative on crime. While not a tight ship, UT wasn't full of criminals unless you count smoking weed and underage drinking. I would bet 95% of cfb drink and 50+% use weed from time to time. Texas, under Mack, was well within the norms for knuckleheads. Plus, he won 8,9, and 8 games in his last 3 years. If Ash had been healthy, he wins 9-11 games per year.

Strong is the Captain Queeg of CFB coaching. While he obsesses over weed, better coaches are building better teams. Great coaches get players to get with the program. He kicks everyone out.

Strong:
Year 1 - losing record
Year 2 - going to lose at least7-8 games
At the end of 2015, he won't have a QB, a good running game, or a decent OL. Plus, the defense is poorly coached and can't tackle.

Counting on a true freshman QB to "fix" everything rarely ends well. Hope is not a valid strategy.

Good point. He had to get rid of a bunch of dope smoking undisciplined criminals. He will get another year.

Look at this schedule. http://www.texassports.com/schedule.aspx?path=football

They could easily start the season 0-6 and 2-4 would be a good result. Texas fans aren't going to sit still for a 4 win season with lots of embarrassing losses. TCU, BU and OU will gladly run up the score.

Heck, Briles might go for the Century if he gets a shot.

Come February, there will be a new coach in Austin. #bookit

SMU alum Chip Brown on the situation in Austin: free Scout story

http://www.scout.com/college/texas/stor ... as-offense

Strong didn’t help himself when asked to evaluate Swoopes’ play against the Irish by saying he didn’t get a real good look because he was “pissed off” about the defense and spending time with that unit on the sideline trying to get them organized.

Texas is currently a 16 point favorite over Rice

16 is a lot of points. Not many bets on Rice expected.

Hope Morris and UH's Herman stay a few years to build access bowl worthy teams.

Forget Strong. He's at Texas for the time being.

Morris is an A&M grad, and when A&M realizes that Sumlin isn't going to win the SEC and starts looking around Morris will be standing in his office with a smile on his face.

I agree with Stallion and Leopold. I would be very surprised if Texas makes a change without actually giving Strong a few years to put a good program on the field. To make a first year change just doesn't happen very often and shouldn't happen. In fact, they might have a harder time filling coaching jobs if they don't support Strong for several years. Moreover, even if they did make a change, Morris hasn't proven anything yet either other than he can recruit better than that Hawaiian dude. (Don't misunderstand my statement; I think Morris is going to be extremely successful here at SMU. However, that has yet to be done. We might need to worry more after Morris wins his first college bowl game.)

I wager Rice beats them. And, he's out the next Monday. That's the best Texas fans can hope for.

Morris ain't going anywhere as long as we pay him. He knows this is his baby and if he can get this thing into the big 12 or whatever p5 he is set for life like Gary and Briles did.

He won't be sticking around if we don't start filling up Ford every game.

Stallion wrote:I don't think College Football history supports firing a coach after 2 years-in fact I don't think its very smart after 3 years but at a powerhouse you probably only get 3 years. Its partly should be based on whether a Coach takes over a program that is healthy or whether it is a rebuild. Its debatable whether the UT was a healthy program or whether it was a rebuild-right or wrong Strong treated it as a rebuild because he has run off so many players-that's going to take 3-4 years at most programs-maybe 2-3 years at a place like Texas

There was a lot of grumbling among some of the old guard when they hired him in the first place. Now there is serious grumbling among many more of the big cigars that he just doesnt have his act together and isn't suited to run a program at a place as demanding as UT. If they can pull off a couple of upset wins and maybe come away with 7 victories minimum he stays. Otherwise, he will resign with a golden parachute and they will claim that it was his decision. The guys hanging around the Austin Club after work won't be satisified with a couple of sacrificial assistant coaches if this doesnt get better quickly.

Morris seems to have a great family and based on his retweets of his wife's posts, she seems to love the big town opportunities while living in Dallas. If that doesn't drive a stake through any A&M talk....they get to go sluming whenever they visit the kid at college. Pretty sure we have him for a while so long as we keep him paid. If the path continues to trend up, then he will get paid.
