Dallas was one bogus called from making it to the NFC championship last season. In the off season, they greatly improved their defense through free agency and the draft. Plus, many experts picked Dallas to either make it to the conference championship or the super bowl. I'm not sure what else needs to happen for a team to be considered a contender?

Yeah but we lost DeMarco. Our running game wasnt very productive against NYG. Not confident in the RB by committee approach mainly due to the fact that all of em are mediocre or worse. they might pick it up as the season goes on.. but judging by first game our running game just isn't the same. and our running game is what made us so good last year.
