I think its SMU and North Carolina

I posted elsewhere that because SMU and Vanderbilt were both on his original top five list I think academics matters to him and that (of course) is a plus for SMU.

That doesn't increase my confidence in our chances.If academics is a huge factor, he'd pick UNC and UT over us, since both are ranked higher academically.

But remember that UNC is currently being sued by its own former student-athletes for forcing them into fraudulent degree programs.

Attending school at Big State School is a vastly different experience from attending SMU. At UT, everyone (even athletes) has to deal with huge classes largely taught by grad students. At SMU, not so much.

Number of recruits you would actually want, who actually make their football decision based on academics, regardless of what they say when being recruited? Zero.

If someone wants to go to play football P5 conference, they don't have to play for Big State School. Frankly, if academics matter, there are a lot of P5 programs that offer better academics (to undergrads) than Big State School -> Stanford, ND, USC, NW, Duke, Vandy.

actually this is kind of a hey-day for private schools-throw in Baylor and TCU

6 of those schools have recently been in the Top 10 I believe
